leaving on a jet plane Sep. 10th, 2004 @ 05:31 pm
so this is the last time i'll be posting on this continent. my flight leaves tomorrow a little before 1pm. maybe i'll be finished packing by then...

anyway, i'll attempt to update this while i'm in korea on a regular basis, and i'll be checking my hotmail and gmail accounts, so feel free to drop me a line. once i get set up in seoul, i'll let everyone know my phone number (so you can all call me whenever you feel like spending lots of money on a phone bill).

i promise that i'll have much more interesting things to say once i'm over there (or so i hope), but right now, i definately need to go finish packing.

i officially started packing today. and by 'packing,' i mean i took all of my clothes and made a huge pile in the middle of my room.

that's all i really wanted to say...

i received a chain letter in the mail yesterday... an actual chain letter (not through email). i honestly didn't realize this form of stupidity was still practiced. but apparently, harry roshto of alexandria, louisiana decided to enlighten me. it's three pages long. typed. and here's the first paragraph, word for word:

My name is Dick Hollman. In September 2001, my car was reposed. Bill collectors were hounding me like you wouldn't believe. I was laid off and my unemployment insurance ran out. In October 2001, I received a letter telling me how to earn $800,000 anytime I wanted to! Of course I was skeptical, but because I was desperate and I had nothing to lose, I gave it a try. In January 2002, my family and I went on a 10-day cruise! In February, I bought a new Cadillac with cash! Today I am currently building a second home in Virginia, and will never have to work again!

that's so ridiculous. and his car was REPOSED? i can only assume that he meant to say it was reposessed but who knows... i would hope that if you're going to start a chain letter and mail it out to people, that you would at least spell check it and maybe read it through once or twice before printing it out and shipping it all over the country. but maybe that's just me...

and how the hell did harry roshto get my name and mailing address? he lives in louisiana so it's not like he just looked up my name in the phone book.

i feel violated.
